Context :

The VIE will join Keolis Hunter’s Asset Management team, responsible for managing assets across all modes (bus, tram/light rail, ferries), reporting to the Asset & Maintenance Director.

What are the team’s main challenges?

• Ensuring the reliability and availability of assets (vehicles, infrastructure, equipment) across three transport modes with very different maintenance profiles — bus maintenance is handled in-house, while ferry and tram (light rail) maintenance is outsourced to external providers.
• For ferry and tram modes, driving contractual performance through a role focused on performance monitoring, compliance, and assurance vis-à-vis maintenance subcontractors, rather than direct execution.
• Structuring and securing asset performance reporting (availability rate, reliability, maintenance costs) to meet TfNSW’s contractual requirements.
• Strengthening the “asset assurance” approach (long-term assurance of asset performance and compliance), in line with standards such as ISO 55000.
• Managing asset improvement or renewal projects in a context of constrained investment and limited contract visibility up to the 2027 horizon.

Profile :

• Master’s degree from a generalist or specialized engineering school (maintenance, reliability, industrial engineering, mechanical/electrical engineering, rail transport)
• Fluent English (minimum C1) in a 100% English-speaking environment, with regular interactions with field teams
• Initial experience in asset reliability, industrial maintenance, asset management, or transport engineering—internships, apprenticeships, or first jobs for candidates with prior professional experience (VIE open up to age 28); knowledge of ISO 55000/PAS 55 is a plus
• Technical skills: analysis of reliability and maintenance data (MTBF, availability rate), basic project management, ability to produce clear, structured performance reports; familiarity with FRACAS, root cause analysis, and failure mode analysis (FMEA) is an advantage
• Tools/software used: advanced Excel, Power BI or equivalent, CMMS/EAM (Keolis Hunter internal maintenance management tool), project management tools (e.g., MS Project or equivalent)
• Other qualities: strong synthesis and communication skills for collaboration with multi-site, multi-mode technical teams; enthusiasm for field visits to depots and infrastructure alongside analytical work
