The purpose of this position is to support effective maintenance delivery through structured planning and scheduling of maintenance work orders, using information extracted from the Maintenance Management System (MMS), manpower rosters, competency mapping and possession plans.

Main resposibilites 

 

STRATEGIC 

  1. Support the Planning Manager to deliver maintenance planning & contribute with process improvements
  2. Optimise maintenance plans by identifying and implementing synergy between maintenance units.

 

 

FINANCIAL

  • Support efficient use of maintenance resources by optimising work order scheduling and manpower planning to minimise rework and inefficiencies.
  • Contribute to cost awareness by highlighting resource constraints, workload imbalances, and planning risks that may impact productivity.

 

 

 

Stakeholder / Customer 

  1. Work closely with Maintenance Leads to validate maintenance schedules, manpower allocation, and execution feasibility.
  2. Coordinate with Engineering, Maintenance, and Planning teams to ensure accurate and achievable maintenance plans.
  3. Provide planning data, schedules, and analysis to support maintenance decisionmaking and tracking.

 

 

 

Operational 

  1. Extract and analyse planned and forecast maintenance work orders from the MMS to support maintenance planning activities.
  2. Prepare maintenance schedules and work plans based on work order requirements, approved job plans, priority, and due dates.
  3. Coordinate maintenance schedules with Maintenance Leads, using available manpower rosters and competency mappings to ensure execution readiness.
  4. Review work order details, including resource requirements, estimated manhours, skill levels, KPIs, and execution timelines, to confirm planning accuracy.
  5. Balance maintenance workload across available resources by analysing work order banks, manpower availability, and competency coverage.
  6. Support reprioritisation and rescheduling of maintenance activities in response to operational changes or resource constraints.
  7. Develop and maintain Excelbased planning tools, schedules, and dashboards to support manual planning activities during the initial implementation phase.
  8. Monitor planned vs scheduled work and provide planning insights, recommendations and? reports to maintenance and planning stakeholders.
  9. Support continuous improvement of maintenance planning processes, data accuracy, and system usage in preparation for future softwaremanaged planning.
  10. Ensure maintenance planning activities are executed in accordance with approved plans and work schedules.

 

 

Capability / People 

  1. Apply structured and disciplined planning practices to support safe and efficient maintenance execution.
  2. Develop a strong working knowledge of MMS data structures, work order hierarchies, job plans, and reporting outputs.
  3. Demonstrate effective use of planning tools, data analysis, and scheduling techniques.
  4. Support a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement within the maintenance planning function.

Education

Engineering Graduate in either Electrical, Civil, Electronics & Communications, Transportation/Automobile, Mechanical Engineering with understanding of Metro and Tram systems.

  • Bachelors in engineering discipline ( B-Tech /BE)

 

Experience

  • 2 or more years of relevant work experience in engineering works management, maintenance, planning & scheduling.
  • MMS workorder management.

 

  • Working knowledge of the MMS system.
  • Working knowledge of scheduling work orders and assigning of site works.
  • Resource coordination and rostering.

Skills / Training

 

MMS, WO management, Fluent in English.

Knowledge of any other languages will be added advantage.
